Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce members are being asked for their input on a new chamber logo — one that will help move the organization forward as it re-brands itself.
A general meeting to provide suggestions for the logo revamp is set for this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the chamber's Shaw House office on Highway 28.
Once the chamber's logo re-creation committee has heard from members, it will take feedback to the chamber's board for a vote to choose the new design.
A revamped logo will provide for greater ease of use on promotional materials and signs, said Tanya Van Buskirk, the chamber's executive director, but the push for a new logo goes beyond technical considerations.
“We want to put ourselves back in people's minds and let everybody know that were are serious about helping our existing members and recruiting new members and wanting to really do good things for them,” Van Buskirk said.
She also said the board wants a new logo to convey new energy in the organization.
The existing logo is about seven years old, and prominently displays the word ‘Bonnyville,' but gives comparatively less play to the word ‘chamber.'
Its current colour scheme also poses some challenges for reproducing it.
Van Buskirk said some suggested logo options will be presented to members at the general meeting, but that the chamber wasn't planning to release the options until that date because it's looking for attendance and feedback at the meeting.
The logo revamp isn't expected to come with a hard cost, because the work is being done for free. As well, the chamber isn't sitting on piles of stationery and envelopes and signs bearing its current logo, Van Buskirk said.
