BONNYVILLE - On Sept. 6, the Bonnyville Centennial Centre was host to the annual Community Registration Night, which gave community members the opportunity to see what the area has to offer.

About 50 organizations, including youth and adult sports clubs, non-profit organizations, community groups and services, and fundraising initiatives, showed up with booths and information, filling the C2 field house.

“The purpose is for community groups and organizations to promote themselves and for people to register,” said C2 staff member Courtney Wirachowsky.

“There are things for all ages. There are groups for littles. There are groups for adults, and seniors – there's something for the whole family.”

Wirachowsky believes that the region has a vibrant scene of organizations that would love to see new members.

“There’s such a variety of things. Kinosoo is here with the ski hill, there’s cheerleaders here, there’s 4-H, the French cultural centre, employment stuff and support services as well. And the Skipperoo’s have been amazing to watch here.”

The event also showcased KidSport, which helps families access the many active sports teams there are in Bonnyville.

“They have services here to help financially support kids in sports who come from families with financial challenges. There are so many options here and it’s sad to think of someone not being able to provide their kid with that just due to financial barriers, so we’re really grateful to be partnered with an organization like that,” said Wirachowsky.

Although it was called Community Registration Night, a morning portion of the event was also offered, highlighting events specific to seniors in the area from 10 a.m. to noon.
