BONNYVILLE – Horseback riders have been taking advantage of the rising temperatures in Bonnyville to head out for a winter ride in the snow.
Lexya Hansen had travelled from the Drayton Valley to Bonnyville to visit her friend Connie Schaffrick, and got the opportunity to go out for a ride with Schaffrick's horses Raya and Flash.
Schaffrick said it can be a challenge getting in a lot of riding during the winter months when footing can get icy, but on Jan. 9 the weather warmed and she seized the opportunity to head out for a ride in the snowy pasture with her friend.
Horses connected Schaffrick and Hansen in the first place when they met at the Evergreen Park race track where Schafferick used to work in Grande Prairie.
With the sun shining, the two said they weren't even cold as the rode through the soft snow.
