BONNYVILLE – MD of Bonnyville Coun. Dana Swigart presented a notice of motion to council on Jan. 14, proposing a policy for addressing public requests to name municipal roads.
The notice of motion explained that public requests for naming municipal roads have been submitted to the MD of Bonnyville in the past. Swigart read the motion during the Tuesday council meeting. The motion will be debated during the Jan. 28 council meeting.
“Requests have been received by local residents to name municipal roads or sections of municipal roads within the Municipal District of Bonnyville . . . Council may wish to consider such requests from the public in recognition of community members’ contributions or municipal history, heritage, and/or culture,” reads Swigart.
Swigart’s notice of motion explained that other municipalities accept public requests to name municipal roads under certain criteria and suggested a new policy be drafted for the MD of Bonnyville.
