BONNYVILLE - St. John’s United Church presented A Night of Music, where local performers took the stage to share holiday music and help raise money for the Stepping Stones Crisis Society.

Volunteer emcee Kevin Smith commented on the talented line up of performers and the large turnout for the event that ended up raising $1,171.

During the Dec. 8 event, students from Dr. Bernard Brosseau and Notre Dame schools, choirs, and local musicians, filled the church with festive music, and attendees mingled  over desserts and coffee.

Dave Tharle told a sweet Christmas story in three parts, that reminded the audience to be grateful for what they have, and to remember kindness and family are more important than all the gifts.

Les Parsons sang and performed with his guitar, after giving a heartfelt speech about finding the light during troubling times, when wars are still fought around the world.

“There are days when the darkness gets the best of us, and it’s pretty gosh darn hard to let the light shine. During Christmas time, there's a message of hope,” said Parsons.

Carols were sung at the end, and attendees were encouraged to join in.

Smith thanked the volunteers who made the night possible, and to the performers who shared the gift of music.
