A local RCMP constable has received “professional guidance” for his unprofessional blog, according to RCMP.
The now defunct blog of Const. Shawn Kropielniski allegedly featured comments about “second-class working whores” and “skanks,” and complaints about his job, according to published reports.
“(Staff Sgt. Luis Gandolfi) did sit down with our young fellow… and they had a discussion about the blog. Some professional guidance was given to the constable,” said RCMP K-Division spokesperson Doris Stapleton.
“He took down the blog and we have closed our interest in this.”
She said Kropielniski is currently on administrative duties.
Another alleged blog post by Kropielniski described going to court for a “dumbass” charged with drinking and driving, and read, “After sitting through four hours of bullshit, poor fashion taste, and annoying people, it was showtime,” according to reports.
Numerous national newspapers across the country ran articles about Kropielniski's blog.
As members of the public, RCMP members have the right to freedom of speech and are entitled to keep a blog, she said.
“We just like them to conduct themselves in a professional manner, and in this case that was not the case. And his commander did have a meeting with him to let him know what the expectations are.”
Stapleton said Kropielniski was not able to comment on the matter.
