Stolen bank cards recovered during traffic stop

A traffic stop initiated due to an incorrect license plate resulted in RCMP finding bank cards that were allegedly stolen.

Dispatched to the scene was the RCMP's Emergency Response Team (ERT) from Edmonton, the Police Dog Services, as well as the RCMP Air Services. 

BONNYVILLE - A traffic stop initiated due to an incorrect license plate resulted in RCMP finding bank cards that were allegedly stolen. 

On Oct. 10 at 4 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP initiated the traffic stop.  

“A check of the vehicle determined it was not registered or insured,” according to RCMP.   

A 37-year-old passenger was found to be on conditions not to be in a motor vehicle without the owner present.  

A man in the vehicle was found to be in possession of stolen bank cards, according to police. 

Corey John-Cook was charged with possession of stolen property, misuse of credit cards and failing to comply with a release order condition.   

John-Cook was held for a bail hearing where the Justice of the Peace released him to appear in court on Nov. 5.
