ELK POINT - On Sunday, April 7, the Elk Point 4-H Beef Club had their Mini Achievement Day at the Elk Point Riding Arena. Members showed up for around 10 a.m. so we could start our day.
Former member Luke Germain gave us a demonstration on how he likes to wash animals. He taught us the techniques he likes to use. After the demonstration, members took their animals to wash and weigh in the steers.
Proceeding with the day, we clipped our steers so we could take pictures for our sale catalogues.
At our Mini Achievement Day, we had Cole Dodgson teaching us how to judge. He got us to judge anything from grain all the way to market steers.
Luke Germain taught us grooming skills and what products to use, where and when you are fitting a cow.
Courtney Hansen and Raelynn Nelson taught us members how to be good showmen. They taught us the proper ways to show while in the show ring. Brooke Kotowich helped members clip their steers and wash them.
Mini Achievement Day was filled with lots of new learning experiences. “All the animals are looking great,” said leader Dennis Kotowich.
All the animals are getting ready for our upcoming Club show on Saturday, May 25 at Stoney Lake rodeo grounds, then followed by the St. Paul 4-H District show and sale in St. Paul.
