LAKELAND - Three people have been arrested and charged - and several firearms seized - after police located a Cold Lake man who was wanted by police at a rural residence near Elk Point on Jan. 8.
Units from Alberta RCMP had been trying to locate the man, who was wanted for a series of serious charges out of Cold Lake.
"Prior to RCMP intervention, the suspect and two other individuals were observed departing in a motor vehicle," according to information from RCMP. Several Units, including the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, monitored the suspect until the vehicle was disabled.
"Checks on the vehicle the suspect was operating revealed that it was stolen," according to RCMP. A search of the vehicle found several firearms that had been reported stolen out of Vermillion.
A second stolen vehicle and two stolen trailers were allegedly located at the property the suspect was seen leaving.
“This complex investigation saw the close coordination of multiple RCMP Units in Eastern Alberta including Bonnyville, Elk Point, Cold Lake, and our District GIS and Crime Reduction Teams," explains Sarah Parke, detachment commander with Bonnyville RCMP.
"Ultimately with the close coordination of these Units our Emergency Response Team was able to safety disable the vehicle driven by this potentially dangerous suspect minimizing his risk to the public," says Parke.
RCMP have charged Christopher Paul Bouchard, 41, with flight from police, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle (x6), unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Bouchard was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. His next court date is set for Jan. 21 in Bonnyville.
