Landmark Cinemas is Open: Make it a Movie Night (Again)

According to Landmark Cinemas, “Movies are Better Together” and they are absolutely right. Whether it’s date night, taking the kids to a show, or a night out with friends, few things beat going to the movies.

When COVID-19 shut theatres down, we did our part and watched movies on streaming media at home. Now that Landmark Cinemas is open, there is a safe way to have movie nights out again.

Here’s how to enjoy movie night while keeping yourself, the staff, and your community members safe:

Buying your ticket and snacks

All guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets and snacks in advance through the ATOM app or at landmarkcinemas.com. If buying on site at a kiosk, you are required to stay approximately two metres away from others in line. Antimicrobial copper film covers the kiosks’ touchscreens. Should you require purchasing from the cashier or the concession, contactless payment methods like credit, debit, and gift cards are preferred.

Arriving at the theatre

Arrive 20 minutes (15 in Ontario) before you showtime. Remember, there are free seat reservations when you book online or through ATOM, so there is no need to come early to secure your favourite seat. If you are too early you may be asked to wait outside so proper distancing can be maintained.

In the theatre

Expect Landmark Cast and Crew members to be wearing masks and other PPE. Some will be behind protective shields. In cities where mask wearing is now mandatory indoors, guests must also wear a mask in the lobby, washrooms, hallways, and concessions. When seated and ready to enjoy your snack and movie, you may remove your mask.

Follow the directional and distancing signs and respect the Cast and Crew members if they ask you to distance from another guest or group.

Lobby seating has been removed and hand sanitizer stations are conveniently placed at the entrances/exits, concessions, theatre doors, and washrooms.

Concession items are limited to reduce wait time. There are no free refills on popcorn or drinks (to limit contact). Straws for drinks are provided by Crew members.

Standard theatre capacity has been reduced by 75 per cent. Recliner theatre rooms have been reduced by over 50 per cent. Recliner seats have blocked off checkerboard patterns indicating safe zones for the couple or family using those seats. Do not enter these zones if you are not with that party.

Pairs of seats are available with three empty seats in between in traditional theatres. Use the app or book online for the best chance of seating groups in proximity. If arriving with small children, please plan accordingly so you can seat an adult beside each child.

When the movie is done, remove your garbage and put it in the bin. This keeps the Cast and Crew members safer and allows them to spend more time deeply sanitizing the theatre between uses.

Stay home if you have, have symptoms of, or have been in contact with anyone that has COVID-19. Stay home if you are under a mandatory quarantine from having travelled, or been in contact with someone that has travelled out of country.

What’s on the big screen?

“We hope movie lovers everywhere enjoy the rare opportunity to see some of the best movies back on the big screen, from Jurassic Park to Jaws,” says Ashley Kruger, Marketing & Promotions Manager. “Movie classics and recent movie favourites are presently $5.00 every day and $2.99 on Tuesdays (tax included).” For a full lineup, visit: https://www.landmarkcinemas.com/movie-deals/movies-are-better-together-5-offer/.

The next new blockbuster will be TENET, which opens on August 27.
