ALERT charges Lac La Biche man with child pornography offences

Lac La Biche... Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE) has charged a Lac La Biche man with child pornography offences.

Members of the northern ICE unit began an investigation after receiving information from the FBI in Connecticut about the possible distribution of child pornography over the internet from a residence in Lac La Biche. On December 1, members of the ICE unit, accompanied by Lac La Biche RCMP, executed a search warrant at the residence in question and subsequently seized computer equipment and electronic storage devices from the home. The suspect was not home at the time of the search but was later located and arrested by members of the Bonnyville RCMP detachment. Investigations revealed that he is employed by the Government of Alberta Ministry of Human Services and is a Foster Care Supervisor in the Lac La Biche area. ICE members executed a second search warrant at his workplace where they seized additional computer equipment and electronic storage devices. The investigation is ongoing. The accused made his first court appearance on December 2 in Lac La Biche. He will be held in custody until his next court appearance on December 5 in Lac La Biche. ICE investigates the sexual exploitation of children through the Internet and works to reduce harm through public education and prevention programs.
