LAC LA BICHE - Those taking in the sights and sounds of the annual Festival of Trees celebration later this month will also be able to shop for a variety of products at the adjacent 13th annual Christmas Shopping Extravaganza.
Bev Tkachuk, who organizes the Christmas Shopping Extravaganza with the Lac La Biche Agricultural Society, said this year there are over 100 vendors booked for the three-day sale, which goes from Nov. 22 to 24.
The vendors will be selling various goods, including baking, canning, crafts, wood products, bedding, Christmas décor, food, and artwork.
“We will have different vendors throughout the three days, so attending more than once is advised,” Tkachuk told Lakeland This Week. “The majority of our vendors are northeastern Alberta residents, with High Prairie being the farthest north and Camrose being the farthest south.”
According to Tkachuk, the Lac La Biche Farmers’ Market will be moving for one day on Nov. 22 to the Bold Center as a component of the Christmas Shopping Extravaganza.
As part of the Christmas themed shopping event, the Lac La Biche Agricultural Society supports not-for-profit groups by working with the Kids Are Worth it program. She explained that vendors donate products for door prize draws that will take place on both Saturday and Sunday.
Any not-for-profit organization that wants a table at the sale, she said, is provided with one free table to sell their goods.
Working with the Festival of Trees over the past dozen years, Tkachuk said, has been a very good experience.
“Our joint effort with the Festival of Trees has been a huge success, watching it grow to what it has become is just fantastic, and we look forward to many years to come,” she said. “We are blessed to have such a supportive community, to help this annual festive event grow and bloom into something unprecedented.”
