Community event links local groups with residents in Lac La Biche

LAC LA BICHE - Becoming acquainted with local organizations as well as services available in the community is important. Residents of Lac La Biche County will have the chance to do that on Sept. 6 during the second annual Let’s Connect Information Fair. The event takes place at the Bold Centre from 5:30-8 p.m.

Chenee Miller with Lac La Biche County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) said the fair is an opportunity for community groups to showcase their assets and what they can offer the people who live in Lac La Biche.

“It is a busy time of year with back to school and sports getting started so I like to look at it as a way to show the support our community offers those who live here with the services they offer,” she told Lakeland This Week.

In addition to allowing the public to learn about community organizations, Miller continued, the fair is also an occasion for anyone looking to becoming involved with these groups as well as different volunteer opportunities available locally.

Last year, the 2023 Let’s Connect Information Fair took place on the Bold Center sports fields during a very warm September evening.

The first “Let’s Connect”, she explained, was a great success.

“We saw over 500 attendees and are anticipating the same for this year,” she said. “Last year, we had 58 community groups…we would love more of the sport groups to come out this year,” Miller said.

Those who attend this year’s fair will be doing so inside the Bold Center, with some activities taking place behind the building.

The event has been held in the community for many years, offering links between residents and programs, services and organizations.
