Ice festival included fun day for kids

In addition to the events on Lac La Biche Lake, the 2025 Lac La Biche Ice Festival also included a kids carnival which was held at McArthur Place.

LAC LA BICHE – The 2025 Lac La Biche Ice Festival featured a few things for people to do indoors.

Throughout the festival, which took place from Feb. 28 to March 2, there was a concert at the Bold Centre, an indoor pond hockey tournament which also took place at the Bold Centre, as well as a kid’s carnival held inside McArthur Place.

The carnival was put on by staff with the Lac La Biche Aboriginal Head Start Program.

“We do like a bunch of activities . . . We do face painting . . . We do glitter tattoos, this year, we’re bringing in a puppet show,” said Tilda Hayward, coordinator for Lac La Biche Aboriginal Head Start.

The fun-focused carnival is beneficial to have as part of the long-running winter festival, because “It’s something for the parents and the families to do together inside and just to have a fun, fun day.”
