LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche County is reaching out to landowners to acquire a five-acre parcel of land for the purpose of staging and storing aggregate products within the municipality’s west-central zone.

Randi Dupras, manager of public works with Lac La Biche County, explained aggregate – also known as gravel, sand or crushed stone – is stored in strategic locations throughout the municipality for efficient operations.

“We’re not looking to expand - we just require strategic locations,” she told Lakeland This Week. “Gravel is used for maintenance on gravel roads and some parking lots, among other uses.”

Regarding what compensation landowners who live in the stockpile zone will receive for renting out their five-acre parcel to the County for a staging site, Dupras says this has yet to be determined. Currently, she said, criteria include location and ease of access.

According to Dupras, stockpile locations for Lac La Biche County are acquired as needed, but generally do not change from year to year.

As stated in information from Lac La Biche County, landowners within the stockpile zone who are interested and willing to rent a parcel of land for storing aggregate products are asked to visit the municipality’s website to fill out an application form and receive further instructions.
