LAC LA BICHE - With most lakes in the Northern Boreal zone of the Alberta fishing areas opening on May 15, an opportunity to learn about fish and their habitat was presented to youngsters and their families in Lac La Biche last week.
As Alberta Environment and Protected Areas staff from the Cold Lake Fish Hatchery re-stocked the community pond in Lac La Biche with trout on May 9, youngsters and their families learned about the fish and other species in and around the region.
The educational event also featured representatives from enforcement services to tell the kids the importance of safe and sustainable fishing.
While it was termed as a "Dad and Me" event, all family members were welcome and took part.
