Lac La Biche RCMP want life-saving items returned

Jaws of Life and other tools stolen from Rich Lake fire hall

RICH LAKE - Lac La Biche RCMP are investigating after $40,000 worth of specialized rescue equipment was stolen from the Rich Lake Fire hall. Police are hoping the thieves or community members with information realize the human value of the items — and help to them.

Sometime between Saturday, Nov.14 and the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 18, thieves made off with tools and equipment including the hydraulic Jaws of Life, pumps and hoses needed to activate the tools, an emergency defibrillator, and a thermal imaging camera.

Do 'the right thing'

“These tools are essential in saving lives in emergency situations,” says Lac La Biche RCMP Cpl. Glenn Ellsworth. “We are asking the person(s) responsible for the break and enter to do the right thing and return these items to the Fire Hall so another life can be saved.”

Lac La Biche RCMP are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the Fire Hall between Nov. 14-17 and witnessed anything suspicious to contact them at 780-404-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
