Eli Tkachuk plays with construction toys in one of the sandpits set up on in McArthur Park last week for the FCSS Messy Play Day.
Organizers say there's no better way for children to learn socialization, language, and motor skills than by engaging in some good, old-fashioned play in the dirt. The weekly event is a component of the FCSS Young Family Connections program. It is designed for youngsters aged up to six, giving them an opportunity to learn sensory exploration by participating in such messy activities as painting sidewalks and walking paths, experimenting with foam and other substances, or simply playing around in the mud. Messy Play Day takes place at McArthur Park every Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30.
