BOYLE - A Regina man with connections to the Plamondon area has been charged with second degree murder in relation to the December 2019 death of a 41-year-old woman in Boyle.
Mario Bernier, 55, is facing charges of second degree murder, arson and indignity to human remains, after the body of Melissa Lyne of Boyle was found inside a burned-out mobile home in Boyle's Aspen Grove Trailer Park last Dec. 18. RCMP have been investigating the death, which was deemed suspicious, and the provincial RCMP Major Crimes Unit formally announced the charges this week.
Bernier, who worked in the Plamondon area within the last two years, has been remanded into custody after a judicial hearing. He is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on this week.
Bernier and Lyne were known to each other and had been in a relationship.
