BONNYVILLE – The game of basketball helped raise money and toys for the Santa’s Elves program last week at Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS).
On Dec. 12, four high school basketball teams went head-to-head in two games. However, the games' score was not only determined by points earned on the court, but were instead impacted by the donations each team’s fans contributed to Santa’s Elves.
A toy donation or $5 equaled one additional point toward a team of the donor’s choice.
In total, the charity basketball games raised $500 and two bins of toys for the Santa’s Elves program.
Playing first in a charity basketball scrimmage was BCHS's junior women and men's basketball teams who were mixed into two co-ed teams to compete against one another.
Afterwards, École Notre Dame High School’s varsity women and men’s arrived to compete in an after-school match against BCHS’s senior teams.
