Senior air force officials with CFB Cold Lake are expected to release some information later today about the absence of their air force parade group at this year's Lac La Biche Remembrance Day services .
Two senior officers from CFB Cold Lake 4Wing were at the annual service, held outside at the Lac La Biche McGrane Branch #28 of the Royal Canadian legion – but the usual multi-member contingent of air force members from the 1 AMS squadron were not at the ceremony. Normally 1 AMS officers – a military group paired with the Lac La Biche community for the last several decades – are a large part of the annual Remembrance Day event in Lac La Biche.
When asked if the absence of the troops was due to scheduling, budgets or something else, senior officers at the Lac La Biche event said an official statement would be released later in the day.
The Lac La Biche Post newsroom has asked local legion executive members about the absence of the military parade members, but have not yet received a response.
Members of the Lac La Biche RCMP in traditional Red Serge uniforms, another staple of the annual event over the past decades, we're also not part of the formal. Members of the local cadet group , peace officers, Legion officials, elected municipal members, fire officials and some service group members were part of the parade group this year.
Community residents - about 300 of them - lined the street around the local legion to watch and listen at the hour long Remembrance Day service.
