Crafters and home business from across the region were at Spring Sale

From Nana's Kitchen whose specialty fudge-making homebase is at the Rocky Meadows Country Getaway north of Bonnyville, to vendors from Edmonton, Vermilion ... knitted goodies from crafters in and around Malaig and small, home-based businesses across Lac La Biche County ... they were al on display at the Spring Fair at Lac La Biche's Bold Center on Saturday.

Hosted by Lac La Biche Farmers' Market organizer Bev Tkachuk, the eleventh annual Spring Fair was back after a two-year absence due to pandemic restrictions on large community events.

The return, which took over the Bold Center's main fieldhouse, drew hundreds of shoppers to dozens of craft, service and home-based business tables from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday.

The turnout and reaction from the vendors and attendees was good, she said.

First time back

"With everything coming back for events from the pandemic, we didn't know what to expect for people coming out to shop and look," said Tkachuk, who added that the vendors seemed happy with the event. "It was really the first big thing for the community for some time, so it was nice to see people come out ... it was the first big event for lots of the vendors too."

Still running the event with social distancing and awareness in mind, despite the removal of all provincial mandates, Tkachuk said she was pleased to see people getting together, enjoying local artisans and crafters, and smiling.

The Spring Sale took place a day before the official start of spring and just three weeks before the Friday, April 8 official start of the Lac La Biche Farmer's Market season.
