St. Paul – A sunny day greeted members of the community who gathered at the annual free block party held at the St. Paul Splash Park on Aug. 12. Families bathed in the sun as kids splashed in the water.
Kim Ouellette, Family Resource Network Coordinator in St. Paul, who is among the organizers, told Lakeland This Week the event is meant for community connection. Due to the pandemic, she said many people have missed having activities, and community gatherings are a great way to support families and the community.
A variety of outdoor games were available including Tic-Tac-Toe, Jenga, and even bean bag toss. According to Ouellette, over 100 people showed up.
“We’ve got great attendance and the weather’s beautiful,” she said. “We’ve some local day cares and day home providers that have also brought their little ones along with various community organizations.”
Ouellette said food and drinks were all free and not a dime was paid for by those who attended. The event was made possible with the support of local businesses.
