École Notre Dame Grade 12 students stopped by St. John's United Church Cemetery and the Indigenous veterans teepee display to remember and lay poppies at the markers of veterans.

BONNYVILLE - In the morning of Nov. 10, École Notre Dame High School students arrived at St. John's United Church Cemetery to lay poppies and say a prayer for local veterans laid to rest.

The group also visited the Indigenous veterans memorial display teepee located next to the Bonnyville Friendship Centre to lay poppies.

The prayer recited by the students as they laid their poppies read, "Heavenly Father, please bless this soldier who risked their life, sacrificed their freedom and incurred mental and physical injury for their country. Just as Jesus did, they put the well-being of others before themselves. Father, please reward their sacrifice with eternal peace in your kingdom."
