Smoky Lake RCMP say a 55-year old man from Heart Lake was the victim of an early morning crash between a pickup truck and a semi tractor-trailer unit near Bellis on New Year's Eve.
Police say the crash took place on December 31 at 3:50 am at the intersection of Highway 28 and Range Road 151 near the Bellis gas station. The The Heart Lake man was the driver and lone occupant of the pickup.
The crash caused the closure of the section of highway for several hours.
Police have not released other details on the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
The driver and lone occupant of the semi tractor trailer unit was taken to the hospital with minor physical injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the collision continues.
