LAKELAND - The Indigenous Rookie League, supported by the Jays Care Foundation and Tribal Chiefs Ventures Inc., included six area First Nations communities.

Over the last couple of months, youth learned baseball skills, and played fun games against one another. On June 23, the league held its wind-up at the ball diamonds in St. Paul, where teams played on another and enjoyed a day filled with baseball, food, and fun.

Taking part in the league were teams from Kehewin, Cold Lake, Frog Lake, Beaver Lake, Heart Lake, and Whitefish Lake nations. About 140 youth took part in the program this season.
