Long-standing tradition continues at École du Sommet

École du Sommet students took part in a fall tradition at the school on Sept. 15, enjoying fresh corn on the cob and games.

ST. PAUL - A long-standing tradition was back in action on Sept. 15 at École du Sommet, as students took part in an afternoon filled with fun and games - and fresh corn on the cob.

Celebrating 'Épluchette de blé d'Inde' in the fall is a tradition that began many years ago, says principal Lise Gratton, who is in her first year as principal at École du Sommet and was experiencing the event for the first time herself. But, she says that are former students from the school who recall the event happening many years ago.

On Thursday afternoon, elementary students at the Francophone school in St. Paul spent a couple hours outdoors, dancing, listening to music, playing games and as the day came to an end, students enjoyed some corn on the cob complete with butter and salt, prepared by parent volunteers.

"It's meant to mark the end of summer, and the beginning of fall," explained Gratton.
