Map shows 150 active cases in St. Paul region

Region sees another increase in active cases on Dec. 10

LAKELAND - Following the Dec. 10 provincial update on COVID-19 cases, the County of St. Paul region is showing another increase in active cases of the respiratory virus and now sits at 150 cases.

When looking at the map by geographic area, it is the one region in the Lakeland that has over 100 active cases.

The County of Smoky Lake, however, has 94 cases, falling just under the 100-case threshold before the region turns red on the map.

The County of Two Hills region is now showing 50 active cases, and also shows one death on the map.

The MD of Bonnyville region is showing 40 cases, and the City of Cold Lake is showing 51 cases.

Lac La Biche is showing 67 cases and Lac La Biche County is showing three cases of COVID-19. The region has shows one death due to COVID-19.

The testing positivity rate in Alberta remains high at 9.5 per cent.

Across the province, there were 1,566 new cases in the past 24 hours. 

"There are 682 people in hospital due to COVID-19, including 124 in intensive care," according to the Dec. 10 provincial update. 

In the last 24 hours, there were 13 additional COVID-related deaths reported. The total number of reported deaths since the pandemic began now sits at 666, in Alberta.

New measures introduced on Tuesday will come into effect at midnight on Dec. 13. The government has granted certain Alberta peace officers and community peace officers temporary authority to enforce public health orders.
