Missing Edmonton man last seen in St. Paul

Police are looking to the public to help track down Meharena Ghebreyesus, also known as Sammy G.

LAKELAND - A man last seen in St. Paul on Oct. 4 is now the subject of a missing person investigation.

On Oct. 29, Edmonton Police Service was dispatched to the investigation and Meharena Ghebreyesus, also known as Sammy G, was reported to be missing.

On the evening of Oct. 4, Meharena was seen driving a silver 2005 Ford Focus, with an Alberta license plate CCB 2318. He was seen leaving a hotel in St. Paul, and was believed to be heading to Edmonton.

"The investigation indicates he likely travelled north to the Smoky Lake/Waskatenau area and remained there until the early morning hours of Oct. 5," according to police.

The Eastern Alberta District General Investigation Section (EAD-GIS) has now taken carriage of the investigation and is asking anyone who may have seen his vehicle or spoken to Meharena between Oct. 4 and the early morning hours of Oct. 5 to contact police.

Meharena is described as having a dark complexion, is about 6ft 3in tall, weighs about 160lbs and was last seen wearing grey pants, a black shirt and white running shoes. 

"If you observed the vehicle or Meharena during this time frame you are asked to contact Eastern Alberta District General Investigation unit at 780-645-8870 or your local Police Department."
