ST. PAUL - Just as the June 8 regular Town of St. Paul council meeting started, council members, administration, along with County of St. Paul Reeve Steve Upham and County of St. Paul CAO Sheila Kitz took a few minutes to thank Trevor Kotowich for his work as the Regional Director of Emergency Management, for all his work since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Town of St. Paul CAO Kim Heyman began the short online presentation. She noted a special thank-you was needed as things "cautiously slow down." She noted the situation came about very quickly, and Kotowich jumped right into his role.
"I want to thank Trevor. You've done a fine job, my friend," said Heyman.
Kotowich, who was clearly surprised by the moment, was quick to acknowledge the many people he works alongside.
Kitz also spoke, saying, "It's been a real pleasure working with you leading the team." She noted Kotowich is always informed about the many issues the municipalities need to know.
Upham noted that Kotowich's passion for leading and organizing is obvious.
Town of St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller echoed the reeve's sentiments, saying "You seem to pull us through challenges."
"I'm speechless right now," said Kotowich, as those in attendance at the virtual meeting applauded him.
The Town of St. Paul, County of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay work together when dealing with emergency management situations, such as the pandemic. Kotowich is also the director of protective services with the Town of St. Paul, and fire chief for the St. Paul Fire Department.
