TWO HILLS – The Two Hills Fire Department is helping five dogs find new homes after their previous owner, John Cooper, passed away.
Two Hills Fire Chief Marjorie Skoropadyk, who is helping coordinate the adoption efforts, estimates the pups to be about six months old.
There were six pups in total, but one had been adopted as of Jan. 13, leaving three female and two male pups still looking for a new home. People interested with adopting any of the pups can contact Skoropadyk.
The deadline for adoption is Jan. 17. Skoropadyk said an arrangement has been made with an animal shelter in Lloydminster for the remainder of the pups that will not be adopted.
"We're hopeful that we'll be able to get most of them adopted before they have to go to the SPCA and then be re-homed from there," she said.
Skoropadyk thanked all individuals helping to feed the pups for the time being, including the fire department's Lieutenant Patrick Bretz, who has been "buying a lot of food" for the pups, as well as area residents Brad and Sally Dary.
