LAC LA BICHE - The weather hasn't been great for ice fishing on Lakeland lakes over the last few weeks, but Mother Nature seems to be letting up some of her icy grip in the coming days. The recent deep freeze did help to boost the thickness of ice on area lakes, with many in the Lac La Biche area now averaging more than two feet in thickness.
These two ice fisher-folk were walking on Lac La Biche lake last week, braving the cold and trudging through the little bit of snow that has fallen on the region so far this winter.
The Environment Canada forecast for the coming week shows daytime high temperatures returning to near-seasonal norms between -8 and -12 Celsius.
