Tuesday crash west of Boyle closes portion of 663

RCMP say traffic detours in place for several hours

Boyle RCMP are reporting that a section of Highway 663 west of the Village of Boyle is currently closed to traffic due to a serious vehicle collision.

As of 2pm, traffic was closed in both direction along Highway 663 from the intersection of Highway 63 about five kilometres west of Boyle and Range Road 204.  The area in near the curve on Highway 63 that leads to the Alberta Pacific  Pulp Mill access.

RCMP have not released immediate details about the crash, but say the road closure is expected to be in place for several hours.

are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 663 in Athabasca County. Traffic on Highway 663 is blocked in both directions from Highway 63 to Range Road 204. RCMP anticipate remaining on scene for several hours while emergency crews respond and police investigate.

Boyle RCMP are expected to provide further updates on the crash and the road closure.
