LAC LA BICHE - More than 200 people gathered on Sunday night for a candle-light vigil outside a Lac La Biche residence connected to the recent death of a young area woman.
Family, friends and community members were at the sombre ceremony to remember the life of 21-year old Tytiana Janvier. While RCMP have not released details of a heavy police presence at the home over the weekend, those at the vigil say that Janvier died there.
Some in the crowd carried banners for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) as those gathered quietly offered prayers and thoughts during the hour-long vigil.
RCMP say the preliminary stages of the investigation have so far not resulted in anyone facing charges in connection to the death. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
The Lac La Biche POST newsroom was at the vigil and spoke to many who knew Janvier. A full story from the vigil will be posted when the information is prepared.
