High school teams compete at curling zones, earn spots at provincials

The St. Paul Curling Rink hosted this year's Northeast Alberta Schools' Athletic Association (NEASAA) curling zones, bringing teams from across northeastern Alberta to town for two days of competition.

ST. PAUL - The St. Paul Curling Rink hosted this year's Northeast Alberta Schools' Athletic Association (NEASAA) curling zones, bringing teams from across northeastern Alberta to town for two days of competition.

Results from zones 

Coming in first place in the boys' category was École McTavish from Fort McMurray. They beat St. Paul Regional High School, who grabbed the silver medals. In third place was the team from École Mallaig School.

In the mixed category, St. Paul Regional High School took the gold medal, narrowly inching out the second place team from Holy Rosary High School in Lloydminster. Third place went to Notre Dame from Bonnyville.

In the girls' category, St. Paul Regional High School once again took the gold medal. Taking silver were the girls from Notre Dame in Bonnyville, and bronze went to F.G. Miller Jr./Sr. High from Elk Point.

Only the top teams advance to provincials, which take place in Brooks, Feb. 26 to March 1.
