Saint John police investigate collision between a train and car, no injuries reported

Police in Saint John, N.B., are investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a train Friday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a collision between a train and vehicle near the Simms Corner intersection in Saint John at 5:36 p.m. on Nov. 22.

They say the train was travelling westbound on the tracks towards a pulp mill when it collided with a vehicle that had gone through the flashing red lights and onto the tracks.

There was extensive damage to the vehicle but nobody was injured.

Police are asking witnesses with dashcam footage or other surveillance to share the material.

The collision remains under investigation.
