MURCIA — Gabriela Istocki scored in a losing cause as Canada was beaten 3-1 by Sweden on Saturday in its final game at the U-17 Costa Cálida MIMA Cup women's soccer tournament.

Istocki, who also scored in Thursday's 3-0 win over Scotland at the Pinatar Arena, ended the Swedish shutout with an 89th-minute strike.

Canada lost 2-0 to England in its opening game Tuesday.

Canada interim head coach Gary Moody made nine changes to his starting 11 with only Ashlynn Walia and Melyna Nyann Alexis retaining their place. Reese Kay, like Istocki from the National Development Centre (NDC) Ontario team, captained the side.

Canada is using the tournament to prepare for CONCACAF U-17 Women’s qualifying play in March-April, while the European teams are gearing up for UEFA U17 qualifying play in March.
