McGinnis, Elizabeth: April 3, 1936 – April 12, 2024

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandma and great grandma Elizabeth McGinnis on April 12, 2024 at the age of 88 years.

Elizabeth was born in Flatlake, Alberta on April 3, 1936.  She left home at an early age to pursue a career as a Nursing Aid.  She was passionate about nurturing others all her life.

She married our dad Donald McGinnis in 1958 and dedicated her life to being a homemaker and a mother moving to Fort St. John, BC; Sherwood Park, AB and then St. Paul, AB.  She was an amazing cook, a gifted gardener and took much joy in a tidy house, yard and garden. She was known for having her hair “set” every week and never missed an appointment. She loved being outside and in later years she enjoyed the life of a snowbird travelling back and forth with dad to their beloved Arizona and stopping at the occasional casino.

Elizabeth was predeceased by dad in 2002, parents Alexander and Amelia, and siblings Albinia, Helen, Annie Angel, Agnes, Frances, Florence, Johnnie, Edward, Joe and Henry. Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her children Randall (Colette), Patrick, Sherry (Daryl), 7 grandchildren - Jarid, Justin, Dillon, Kelton, Paige, Reid, Brooke and 3 great granddaughters Oaklyn, Adeline and Emily along with friends and relatives.

We already miss her unbelievable fried chicken and cabbage rolls and her silly fixes for just about everything…that usually turned out to work! Cremation has taken place.  A private family memorial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, and if desired, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
