TORONTO — Ontario's police watchdog says a man was seriously injured when two Toronto police officers fired their guns at him after a traffic stop in the city's north end Sunday night.
The Special Investigations Unit says the incident happened around 11 p.m. after an officer made a traffic stop near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
The SIU says there was an "interaction" and two officers discharged their firearms.
It says an unidentified man was shot and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The watchdog says five investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
The unit urges anyone with information, including photos or videos of the incident, to contact the lead investigator.
