“Put me in, coach!” And now, stepping up to the sports desk, standing 5'10” and weighing in at a meager 70kg, the new sports writer for the Bonnyville Nouvelle, Brandon MacLeod (crickets chirping).
Hello Bonnyville, I certainly am Brandon MacLeod and I will be your new voice for the community sports scene. It is an honour to be your provider of sports news in such a sports rich community. Growing up in Cold Lake, I am well aware of the importance and entertainment value of sports to this area. I love baseball and grew up playing minor hockey and soccer. I have also experimented with snowboarding, skateboarding and wide variety of other sports. My current sport of choice is Slo-Pitch – is there really a better sport out there? Let me know. Sadly I had to take a hiatus from my team back in Edmonton, but it was for a good reason. However, without a doubt, Slo-Pitch remains my favourite sport.
As far as covering sports goes, I am all eyes, ears and any other sense that may be required to do the job effectively. I love to watch, analyze, discuss and even ponder any and everything sports; I am not prejudice, covering anything from Antelope Races in the Far North to Vuvuzelas in the Deep South.
Just to be clear, I can also function properly beyond the realm of sports. Because of this ability I have been assigned the title of news reporter, along with that of sports writer. This allows for me a broad spectrum of issues and events to cover, and I promise to do it to the best of my abilities.
With that said, I invite all readers to contact me with any issues, events or story ideas you may have – or just to say hi.
I can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 780 826-3876. Sports specific information can also be sent to [email protected].
Thank you for your time and I'll see you out there.
