Why did you co-launch Talk Time
We launched Talk Time in 2021 because we felt the need to help provide some positivity, fun and truly useful information. The year 2020 was a tough for so many. Every day the news seemed to get worse, so we thought we'd do something a little different. We focus on nothing but the positive! The stories are out there, you just have to look a little harder; and with our group of panelists, it's always a lively, fun conversation.
The objective is, if even for a just a few minutes, to get your mind off of the negative that's happening in our world and focus on the positive. That's exactly what I love about the show. Turn on the TV or radio and there's a good chance you're going to hear something that dampens your mood. COVID, politics, etc. – it can be a bit much. So why not have a laugh or two with me, Shawna, and our incredible guests?
What are some of the contributing factors to the show’s success?
We've put together a great group of regular panelists. Whether it's lifestyle, pop culture, diet, fitness, or tech, we've got you covered. Shawna and I have known each other for...cough, cough...25 years! We have great chemistry and we're always cracking each other up.
What is your greatest challenge about the show?
Since it’s a new show, the audience is only going to get bigger and bigger and I'm excited for the future. My greatest challenge, when it comes to the show, is remembering where the camera is. I'm a radio guy. I moved around a lot during my show, talked with my hands, etc. Getting used to sitting still wasn’t easy.
What do you love the most about life in general?
Every day's a new beginning. If yesterday didn't go quite as planned or how I'd hoped, I'll give it another try tomorrow.
What do you love about your business community? How can the community support you?
Small business has had a tough year; COVID did a real number on lot of them. It breaks my heart seeing so many doors closed forever. Lifelong dreams... just gone. That being said, so many have also persevered, made changes, and done whatever it took to keep going. While it's been tough to watch, it's also been incredibly inspiring. How can local business support us? Well, we're always looking for sponsorships. Contact us. We'd love to work with you.
What’s next for you? For Talk Time?
I'm really not sure what's next for me. I've been in radio 29 years and 23 of those years were in Edmonton. That came to an end in March. I'd love to continue in radio, but COVID has been tough on the industry and its employees. So many talented broadcasters have lost jobs. So, we'll see what the future holds. As for Talk Time, we're going to keep it going. We're having a blast doing it. It's building a following and we've got some exciting things planned when we launch season two in September. Stay tuned!
