ST. PAUL - A local man is $100,000 richer after winning a large prize from a $5 scratch and win ticket.

Darren Hunter won the prize from a Crossword Animal scratch and win ticket that he purchased at the St. Paul 7-Eleven, according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

Hunter says he bought the ticket on a whim and was surprised to see it was a winner.

“I scratched it and had to double check it in-store,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

Hunter was not sure how he would be spending his winnings, and was overwhelmed by the prize.

“It blew my mind."
