St. Paul residents gathered at the Co-op Mall on Thursday as they took part in the chili cook-off event during rodeo week celebrations.

Community members had the chance to try eight different chili varieties as well as pop and a bun for $2. Judges also had the opportunity to taste test the selection of the chili before the serving began.

After deliberating, the three judges were able to come up with a winner. In first place was the County of St. Paul, who served up their chili with sides of cheese and chips. Second place went to 1310 CHLW, which sponsored the event, and third prize went to the Co-op Mall team.

The winning team was presented with a trophy and bragging rights as the 2011 chili cook-off champions.
