Princesses roller skate in St. Paul

A series of themed roller-skating parties took place at CAP Arena from Aug 23 to 25, including a superhero-themed roller-skating event on Saturday, followed by Skate with a Princess on Sunday.

ST. PAUL – A series of themed roller skating parties took place at CAP Arena in St. Paul from Aug 23 to 25, including a superhero themed roller skating event on Saturday, followed by Skate with a Princess on Sunday.

Adorned with a green dress, Amanda Hartford - or Princess Anna - told Lakeland This Week during the Skate with a Princess event that it was “fantastic” to see people come out and participate.

Hartford says she organized the events to promote health and wellness, and to spread positivity.

She believes that spreading positivity creates a ripple effect. Throughout the weekend, people left the roller skating parties with smiles on their faces, and that allows them to spread more positivity when they go about the rest of their day.

“It'll have a ripple effect,” she said.

Hartford hopes to one day open a roller skating rink in St. Paul.

“Roller skating has become really popular. Calgary is actually opening their second rink in the last seven months,” she said explained. But it’s too far to travel to cities from St. Paul to enjoy the sport, added Hartford.

Her inspiration is to be able to provide another place for the community to come out, have fun, and meet each other - all the while promoting healthy living through roller skating.

“You know, a place to enjoy yourself, have some laughs, some smiles, and get healthy and get active,” she said.
