SPEDDEN - An area man has won $1 million after purchasing a lottery ticket at Boyne Lake General Store on Highway 866.
Francis Morin won the $1 million prize on a $20 Western Million scratch and win ticket, and says he plans to see the ocean and visit British Columbia, according to information from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
“I would love to go to Victoria and go on the ferry,” said Morin, speaking about what he plans to do with his winnings.
“Standing on the deck, you can see out to the city,” he continued. “I’d like to do that.”
The Spedden area resident found out he was a winner while drinking coffee with his daughter.
“My daughter helped me [to scratch it] and she saw that it was a million dollars first,” he explained. “She was jumping around and screaming - I was still drinking my coffee.”
“I didn’t believe it right away,” he admits. “I don’t usually buy scratch tickets. I just do it once in a while.”
