St. Paul RCMP members collect truck load of food

With the help of the community, St. Paul RCMP members raised a truck load of food items for the St. Paul & District Food Bank.

ST. PAUL – St. Paul RCMP did not expect such an outstanding response from the community when members held their "Cram the Cruiser" fundraiser and food drive for the St. Paul and District Food Bank at the St. Paul Cornerstone Co-op on Dec. 13.

St. Paul RCMP Sgt. Andrew Druhan said the initial expectation was to use a cruiser for the donated non-perishable items, as they were unsure how many donations would be collected. But by the end of the day, they filled an entire pickup truck instead.

"I'm so happy we took a pickup truck, because that truck is crammed to the limit," said Druhan.

He also thanked Co-op for packaging food items that people purchased and donated. Each package costs approximately $25. The RCMP also raised about $2,000 in monetary donations for the food bank.

"The people of St. Paul definitely showed up . . . They did a phenomenal job of taking care of each other and we're just shocked and proud to be part of the community," he said.
