ST. PAUL – A short high school golf season has wrapped up, with some local athletes recently heading to ASAA provincials.

On Sept. 16, the Northeast Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association (NEASAA) golf zones were held at the St. Paul Golf Course. The St. Paul Regional High School girls' team won the 3A zone championship and played at the provincials in Grande Prairie from Sept. 22 to 24.

Among 17 teams, St. Paul girls' team nabbed sixth place in the 3A/4A category. The team was composed of Finley DeMoissac, Addison Graling, Emma Southwick, and Mercedes Trefenanko.

Shae Workman, head coach for the team, expressed her pride for the players.

"The girls brought really amazing attitudes, and they just came ready to golf. It was a really exciting experience for them," she said.

Girls' teams from Two Hills and Ashmont also took part in the ASAA tournament, along with a few other Lakeland-area athletes.
