ELK POINT - The Town of Elk Point will have two candidates for mayor and seven seeking the four town council seats on the ballots for the Oct. 18 municipal election.
Current councillor Terri Hampson will vie with former mayor Parrish Tung for the mayor’s chair, while incumbents Debra McQuinn, Tim Smereka and Dwayne Yaremkevich will join former council veteran Bernice Capjack and first time candidates Jason Boorse, Wanda Cochrane and Olivia Wilkins in the race for the council seats.
Current Mayor Lorne Young did not seek reelection.
Both mayoral and council candidates have been invited to take part in a virtual forum on Zoom, hosted by the Elk Point and District Chamber of Commerce and Givens LLP, on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
