Lac La Biche Lakers hoping for wins this weekend

LAC LA BICHE - The Lac La Biche Lakers won at home on Dec. 6, but lost on the road the following day.

The Lakers defeated the Edson Eagles 5-4 in overtime during a match at the Bold Center. However, The team dropped a 5-2 decision to the Gibbons Pioneers on Dec. 7 in Redwater.

During Friday’s contest, the Lakers remained scoreless until eight minutes into the first period, when Grayson Joseph scored, assisted by Dustin Whillier. Edson came back with two more goals of their own, but three goals by Lac La Biche to finish off the second period tied the game 4-4.

Both teams stayed off the scoreboard in the third, pushing the game into overtime. Joseph then got his third goal of the game and helped add a win to the Lakers' record.

For Saturday’s away game, the Lakers remained off the scoreboard until the third period. And by this point in the game, the Pioneers had a commanding 5-0 lead.

Lac La Biche forward Raiden Perkins scored unassisted, followed by Joseph, assisted by Tayzin Jackson and Peyton Moneyes.

The Lakers will back in Redwater on Dec. 13 for a rematch against the Pioneers and will then host the High Prairie Red Wings on Dec. 14 at the Bold Center.
