St. Paul Education says information not compromised by PowerSchool data breach

St. Paul Education has not been affected by the PowerSchool data breach.

ST. PAUL - St. Paul Education has confirmed that the information of its students and parents is safe following a large-scale data breach reported by PowerSchool earlier in the week.

PowerSchool is described as an "education management platform" and is used by schools across North America. Student information, including names, dates of birth, grades, schedules, and more is kept within the program.

"We are writing to inform you about a recent data breach reported by PowerSchool, the provider of our student information system. We understand that any news of a data breach can be concerning, and we want to assure you of the steps we’ve taken to assess the situation," reads the statement from St. Paul Education sent to parents on Jan. 10.

"Through investigations conducted by both PowerSchool and St. Paul Education, we can confirm that no data belonging to our students, staff, or parents was impacted by this incident," adds the statement.

St. Paul Education staff members will continue to monitor the situation and remains in contact with PowerSchool.

"The company has assured us that they are actively implementing enhanced security measures and collaborating with law enforcement to address this breach," according to St. Paul Education.
